Goal Oriented Measurements

Also known as metrics, each project and business enterprise must establish a metrics program as a means to understand if progress is effective or efficient. The primary objectives for developing a metrics program are to:

Characterize processes, products, resources, and environments to establish baselines for comparisons for future assessments.
  • Evaluate status with respect to the planned outcome.
  • Predict future events based on current trends.
  • Improve efficiencies in business operations based on quantitative information.

These metrics must support the primary business goals defined by the organization or project. Specific secondary goals are derived during the development of the metrics candidates. Metrics may support primary processes, secondary processes, or interfaces between multiple processes.

Hoping for the best is akin to the ostrich burrowing its head in a pile of dirt during a lighting storm – exposure is obvious.

Et Cetera Group employs a 10-Step process to develop and manage a complete set of metrics. Our professional team will guide you through this process to ensure all measurements are supported, effective, and enable the organization to make “fact-based decisions” in the future.

Data gathering and number crunching is not the sole responsibility of the accounting department. Data is valuable to every organization and data can be costly if not managed properly. Gathering data is a value decision. If data is telling you something new, then it's providing some value.
